Event Terms and Conditions

Registration details:

To provide you with a safe and effective session, we ask for certain information as part of the booking process (e.g. emergency contact details / health concerns). You agree to answer these questions as fully and honestly as possible.

The information you provide during booking will be treated as confidential and will be used only for the purposes of a) providing Forest Bathing+ sessions in a safe and effective manner; and b) where consent has been given to receive e-newsletters, providing details of news and upcoming events from Wilder Lives. Please see wilderlives.co.uk for further details of our privacy policy.

Covid-19:

Please do not attend the event if you are feeling unwell, have symptoms or have tested positive for Covid-19. Please contact Liz and soon as possible and we will transfer your booking to another date.

Participants:

Our events are for adults 18+ only. No dogs or other pets allowed.

Accessibility:

During the session we are likely to cover 1-2 kilometres – this will be at a slow pace. Unfortunately, however, Forest Bathing+ is not currently suitable for anyone using a wheelchair, or with severe mobility limitations – if you have any questions or concerns please contact us prior to the event.

Possible risks:

Forest Bathing+ is a gentle activity and is very safe for most people to engage in. However, all activity outdoors involves some risk, and by taking part you agree that you are physically sound to participate and assume full responsibility for your own well-being.

If you have any medical conditions or health-related concerns it is advisable to speak to your GP/health team before attending the session. You agree to seek medical advice prior to the event if appropriate.

In addition, if you currently experience or have a history of serious health issues (including mental health issues, major surgery, seizures, implants, special needs or severe allergies etc), you should let us know before the session. Informing us will help us look after you and make sure the session is appropriate.

As with any event taking place outdoors in woodland, the terrain will be varied and there are likely to be various potential hazards – please follow your guide’s instructions at all times. We will endeavour to highlight risks and guide you as safely as possible but please note that you may come across issues such as tree roots, low-hanging branches, slippery surfaces, slopes, and steps. As the venue is open to the public we may also encounter other walkers, pets, horses, and cycles etc.

Forest Bathing+ is normally a relaxing experience. However, you may find that strong emotions surface at times during the session: this is a normal reaction as we slow down and release tension, and it is likely that such emotions will disperse naturally. If you feel you need extra support at any point you can simply catch the attention of your guide, who is a Mental Health First Aider.

Wilder Lives shall not be liable for any injury or damage to your person or property arising directly or indirectly from your participation in this event, and you agree to waive and release Wilder Lives from any and all such claims, costs and damages.

Clothing and provisions:

Our sessions take place in a variety of weather conditions. Your body temperature can lower significantly as we move slowly in the forest and stop regularly so it is easy to get cold, even in the warmer months. First-time forest bathers often say they wish they’d worn more layers! Please therefore wear / bring clothing suitable for the outdoors that will keep you warm and dry (long trousers and sleeves, multiple layers, coat / jacket, hat and gloves), and sturdy enclosed shoes with good grip. For your own safety, Wilder Lives reserves the right to refuse participation in the session if you are not wearing appropriate clothing / footwear. This is at your guide’s discretion and their decision is final.

We recommend you bring a picnic mat or groundsheet (or a large bin bag will do) to use during some exercises. If you feel you may have a problem with standing for long periods or if being on the floor is not suitable for you, you may wish to bring a small foldable chair to sit on.

Bring tissues and hand sanitizer and, if required, waterproofs, umbrella, sun protection, drinking water, and any food or medications you need.

Please note that you will need to carry anything you bring with you. We recommend using a rucksack so that you can have your hands free.

Parking at Salcey Forest:

Parking at Salcey Forest is free for Forestry England members. For non-members, Wilder Lives is able to offer discounted parking if you pre-book this through the session Eventbrite page and share the correct car number plate during the booking process. The discounted parking will entitle you to park either all day (weekdays), or until up to an hour after the finish time of your session (weekends).

Cancellation:

If it is necessary for us to cancel a session we will give you as much notice as possible and you will be offered the opportunity to either switch to an alternative Wilder Lives session or receive a full refund. Cancellation may be necessary:

  • If it is not safe to proceed. Forest Bathing+ is an all-weather activity (and rain can actually bring extra benefits to a session!), but severe conditions may mean we need to cancel. This is most likely in the event of high winds, thunderstorms, or extreme cold/heat.
  • If your guide is unwell.
  • If the minimum number of participants for the session (normally three) is not met.

Refunds:

If you are no longer able to attend the event, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make the place available to someone else. Refunds (less the Eventbrite booking fee) or event transfers are available up to 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of the event. No refunds or transfers will be provided in case of non-attendance or late arrival, or if you are asked not to participate in a session due to inappropriate clothing.

Lateness:

In order not to affect other participants’ enjoyment of the session, we are unable to wait more than five minutes past the start time for late-comers.

Consent to Photography/Filming

If you indicate (e.g. as part of the event booking process) that you consent to photography/filming you are deemed to have understood and agreed to the following:

  • Wilder Lives may use photographs and/or video recordings of you taken by Wilder Lives or by persons or organisations authorised on behalf of Wilder Lives for the purposes of promotional activity. • Wilder Lives has the right to edit, modify, crop, add to or subtract from the photographs and/or video recordings at its entire discretion and without your approval.
  • You can ask Wilder Lives to stop using your images at any time, in which case these will not be used in future publications but may continue to appear in publications already in circulation.
